Karnatak Sporting Association put up a pleasant attacking display and managed to get the better of a spirited HDFC Bank by a 2-0 margin in an Elite Division Group-A play-off match of the Rustomjee-MDFA League 2018-2019 and played at the Neville D’Souza ground, Bandra on Tuesday.
Both the teams were engaged in a keen tussle for supremacy and there was plenty of excitement throughout the match. However, both the team failed to open the scoring in the first half.
After the change of ends, Karnatak SA finally broke the deadlock when Sanchit Singh hit the target midway through the second session. Later, Pragnesh Solanki struck the second goal to double the lead.
However, both Karnatak SA and HDFC Bank, both with four and two points failed to qualify for the semi-finals from this group. U. Mumba with five points and Mumbai Customs with four points advanced to the semi-finals.
Central Bank of India who topped Group-B will clash with Mumbai Customs in the first semi-finals on Wednesday, May 1 at 3.45 pm and Air India will take on U. Mumba in the second semi-final on Thursday, May 2 at 3.45 pm.
