Karan Nande’s soild 77 runs knock powered Mafatlal SC to a massive 136 runs victory against Teleperformance SC in a first round match of the 10th RCF T20 Cricket Tournament 2019 for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Cup, organized by Rashtriya Chemicals & Fertilizers Limited under the auspices of MCA and played at the RCF Colony ground, Chembur on Friday.
The formidable Mafatlal team, who were put into bat first, faced little difficulty in negotiating the rival bowling attack and their batsmen, in particular Nande, scored runs freely and they amassed a huge total of 211 for the loss of just four wickets from their quota of 20 overs. In reply, Teleperformance batsmen surrendered rather meekly and were bowled out a measly 75 in only 11 overs, and handed Mafatlal a win by a huge margin.
Teleperformance made quite a promising start and reduced Mafatlal to 44 for 2. But, then Mafatlal’s one drop 3 bat Nande along with Siddharth Adhatrao (40 runs) produced a 99 run partnership for the third wicket to carry the score to 143 for 3 wickets.
Later, Onkar Jadhav (43 runs) and Puneet Tripati (20 runs) took charge and scored quickly and remained unbeaten as their innings came to a close. Neil Narvekar (2/33) was the pick of the Teleperformance bowlers.
Teleperformance opener Priyank Patel batted gutsily in scoring 31 runs but unfortunately received no support from the other batters. Sunil Lingayat (20 runs) was the only other batsman managed to offer some resistance and get some runs on the board before their innings collapsed. Mafatlal bowlers Rohit Singh (2/34), Prasad Patil (2/0), Puneet Tripati (2/6) and Omkar Jadhav (2/10) were among the wickets.
Karan Nande of Mafatlal won the ‘Man-of-the-Match’ and received the award from Niranjan S. Sonak.
