Kamal Chawla of Railways played steadily and produced an unflinching performance to waltz past Yash Rungta of KVSC and qualify for the main draw of the Bombay Gymkhana Handicap Billiards Tournament. The lanky cueist, Chawla playing with a steep handicap of -300 was in total control and hit three useful breaks of 71, 60 and 50 en route to recording an authoritative 200-103 victory against Rungta (-100) in the race-to-200-point third round match played at the Bombay Gym’s billiards room.

Meanwhile, Khar Gymkhana’s Sparsh Pherwani (-160) quickly settled down and rattled in tidy break of 41, 35 and 33 to breeze past Garware Club House cueist Bhavesh Jain (-70) by a whoping 200-100 points margin in a second round encounter.
In another second round clash, NSCI’s Sagar Desai (-50) sidelined Railways seasoned player Nikhil Ghadge (-160) by posting a satisfying 200-143 win to advance to the third qualifying round.
Sparsh Pherwani of Khar Gymkhana defeated Bhavesh Jain of Garware Club House to advance into the third round of the Bombay Gymkhana Handicap Billiards Tournament.
Bombay Gymkhana’s Kaizad Fitter (-100) bowed out losing tamely to Chembur Gymkhana’s Nikhil Lalwani (-10) in a second round contest. Lalwani struck the ball quite consistently to stroll to a 200-67 win and a place in the third round.
Matunga Gymkhana’s Shailesh Rao (Scratch) also progress to the third round when he quashed the challenge from Park Club’s Lalit T. Jham (-60) by romping to a close 200-170 win in a well-contested encounter.
