Joe Fernandis XI played with plenty of grit and determination and did well to put it across Chota Nagpur SC pulling off a close 2-1 victory in a third round match of the St Peter’s Youth Centre organised SPYC Veterans’ Hockey League 2019 and played at the Fr. Donnelly Artificial Turf, St Stanislaus High School, Bandra. The feature of Joe Fernandis win was the double strikes from Sadanand Kahar which tilted the match in their favour. Chota Nagpur scored their lone goal through Manoj Kraketta.

 

In another closely contested encounter, Kalina Village Boys scored a hard-fought 3-2 win against Hockey Navi Mumbai to pick all the three points. Kalina Village Boys consistent goal-scorer Kingsley Rebello led the charge with two goals and Devender Kumar chipped in with one to round off the winning tally, while Gurmeet Singh and Mahesh J. netted one each for the losing side.

 

Earlier, Hockey Hounds charged to a 3-1 win against Ave Maria in another league match. Stanley Fernandes, Errol D’Silva and Shekar Tantry scored a goal apiece for Hockey Hounds, while Inder Singh Negi got the only goal for the losing side.
