Khar Gymkhana’s Kabir Khubchandani set the pool on fire as he had a haul of six golds in the boys under-11 category to emerge outstanding swimmer on the opening days of the Otters Club’s 35th Open Swimming Championships, held at their pool, at Bandra on today. Kabir topped in all the six events that he took part, winning the 50m backstroke, breast stroke, butterfly, free style and 100m free style events as well as 200m individual medley events.This is the first swimming event after two years gap due to the Covid-19 crisis.
In the girls section, Saanvi Deshwal 0f Otters- Dolphin bagged two golds and two silvers in the girls under -11 category. However, she had to share the honours with her sister Anvi, who too had a brace of golds. While Saanvi took golds in 50m back stroke and 50m breast stroke, Anvi took golds in 50m free style and 100m free style events. Aarya Paste (CSMSS) took the honours in the under-9 section, clinching two golds, a silver and a bronze medals.
The individual champions in lower age groups were:
BOYS: Under -11: Kabir Khubchandani (Khar Gym )– 6 golds. Under-9: Pratyakhshvir Parmar (CSMSS)- 3G+1S+1B. Durvesh Devrukhkar( CSMSS) 2 G , 2S; Under-7: Shivaansh Athale (Reniassance Club) – 1G+1S+1B; Ridhaan Modi : 2 G;
GIRLS: Under-11: Saanvi Deshwal (Otter- Dolphin)- 2G+4S. Anvi Deshwal 2 G, 2 S, 2 B; Under-9: Aarya Paste (CSMSS) – 3G_1S+1B. Under-7: Pratya Gucchait (IIT, Bombay) – 2G.
