The hosts Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana’s senior string were well served by their juniors led by State No. 1 Shauraya Pednekar as they dethroned current title holders Andheri YMCA on the final day of the MSDTTA Inter-Club premier division tie held at Juhu Vile Parle Gymkhana here on late Sunday night.
JVPG 1st Div Champs
The new champions remained unbeaten in the four-team league, while Sane Guruji Table Tennis Academy,. too gave a jolt to many times champions Andheri YMCA, beating them 3-0 to earn the runners-up spot in the four-team premier division league.
Genesis TTA-II-div-champs
Ironically, the new champions JVPG ‘A’, comprising all the state ranked junior players, have to thank their new coach Noel Pinto, the Andheri YMCA’s stalwart of many of their earlier triumphs, for their success.
CSMSS-III-div-champs
In spite of collegian Akshay Gogari putting up a fine show to beat seasoned Kapil Kumar in straight games, his team, Mandpeshwar Civic Federation lost to new entrants Genesis TT Academy 3-1 in the second division final.
