Juhi Shah to lead Maharashtra Women’s Football Team


Juhi Shah of MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) has been appointed captain of the Maharashtra team that will participate in the West Zone leg of the 21st Senior Women’s National Football Championship -2015-16. The matches will be held at Railway Ground, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh from December 13.

The team was selected after a gruelling two weeks of the trials at Cooperage Football Stadium. The team boasts of two Indian players — Abeer Arsiwala (junior international) and Laura Estibero (Ex – international).

The Manager and Head Coach of the team is AFC ‘B’ License holder Kalpana Dass who is being accompanied by Asst. Coach Fenny Fernandes and Phyiso Neelam Dave.
Maharashtra take on hosts Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, December 13 and then play against Gujarat on Tuesday, December 15 and face off against Goa in the last match on Friday, December 18.

The team is as follows: Afreen Peerbhoy, Abeer Arsiwala, Deepika Masurkar, Juhi Shah (C), Laura Estibero, Pooja Dhamal, Priya Tiwari, Snehal Manchar, Durva Vahia (all Mumbai), Ankita Shinde, Surbhi Manjrekar (both Thane), Ashalata Pharande (Satara), Alisha Ranikhetwala (VC), Darshana Sanas, Hiba Fiquih (both Pune), Mrudul Shinde (Kolhapur), Kirti Thapa, Shraddha Yadav, Sunita Yadav (both Nagpur) and Pooja More (Gondia).
