Johnson Mathews’ double strike in the first half featured in St. Francis D’Assisi’s 4-0 win over Ryan International in the boys under-16 quarterfinals of the Poinsur Gymkhana’s suburban inter-school football tournament, under their Uttar Mumbai Krida Mahotsav Sports Fiesta, played at their ground at Kandivali, here today.
Right from the word go, Johnson was in his element as first struck in the 13th minute , sending the ball home in a skirmish inside the box . Later, receiving pass from the right flank, he hammered home another goal as St. Francis went f2-0 up at the break .
Ryan International boys did put up good fight, but the dominant St Francis boys hardly gave their forwards a look in. On the contrary, Harsh Dekhale in the 27th minute and Vivek Prasad in the 30th minute boosted their side’s tally with fine goals.
