Mumbai Customs’ ace sharpshooter Jayesh Jadhav stole the thunder with some dazzling stick-work as he fired in 7 goals in the team’s 8-1 win against Sea View Sports Club in the men’s final round match and lifted the ‘Champions’ trophy in the Bandra Gymkhana 30th Open Rink Hockey Tournament, played at the Bandra Gym’s tennis courts.
Jayesh’s senior teammate Stanley Fernandes scored the 8th goal, while Shelton Carvalho scored Sea View’s only goal of the match.
For scoring consistently throughout the tournament, Jayesh was named ‘Man of the tournament’ and received his award from Ajit Rodrigues, Trustee, Bandra Gymkhna.
The Customs team received the ‘Champions’ trophy from Chief Guest, Rev. Fr. Maggi Murzello, Principal, St. Andrew’s High School, Bandra.
Earlier in the semi-final round, last year’s runners-up Mumbai Customs defeated Hockey Santacruz 6-4. Jayesh scored four goals and Hemant Ghethe and Conroy Remedious scored one for Customs. For Hockey Santacruz the goals were scored by Saad Pathawala (2) and Karan Kapoor (2).
In the other match, Sea View defeated Bombay Republicans 4-3. Lawrence Soares scored two goals while Shelton Carvalho and Anish Fernandes scored one each to give Sea View the win. Bombay Republicans managed to score their goals through Santosh Singh (2) and Venkatesh Devker (1) to make a fight.

Semi-finals: Mumbai Customs 6 (Jayesh Jadhav 4, Conroy Remedious 1, Hemant Ghethe 1) bt Hockey Santacruz 4 (Saad Pathanwala 2, Karan Kapoor 2).
Sea View SC 4 (Lawrence Soares 2, Anish Fernandes 1, Shelton Carvalho 1) bt Bombay Republicans 3 (Santosh Singh 2, Venkatesh Devker 1).
