Jayesh Chaudhari hits late form

Matunga Gym 6-Red snooker report:

Jayesh Chaudhari of Thane struck late form and did well to pocket the last two frames to snatch a close 4-3 win against Akash Ramteke in a first round, best-of-7 frames, match of the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red Open Snooker Tournament 2018, sponsored and hosted by Matunga Gymkhana, under the auspices of BSAM and played at the gymkhana’s billiards hall.

The Thane cueist Chaudhari started poorly and tamely lost the first two frames as Ramteke raced to a 2-0 lead. Chaudhari managed to win the third and fourth to draw level at 2-all, but went on to lose the fifth and trailed 2-3. But, showing loads of determination he bounced back in style, and with the help of 28  break (6th frame) he went on to win the next two frames in succession to clinch a 1-39, 1-33, 40-29, 39-19, 2-35, 35-15 and 45-1 win.

In another first round match, Pune’s Chintamani Jadhav had things much his own way as he brushed aside Souvick Mallick of Vashi 4-1 (38-17, 24-33, 45-33, 36-26, 42-10) to advance to the second round.
