Jaiswal’s big innings powers Our Own CC to massive win


Vikas Jaiswal showed tremendous batting form building a towering innings of an unbeaten 279 runs to power Our Own Cricket Club to a thumping 436 runs victory against Indian Gymkhana in a Group-B section match of the MCA Dr. H.D. Kanga knockout cricket tournament 2022, and played at the Matunga Gymkhana ground, Matunga.

Matunga Gymkhana, deciding to field first, failed to contain the Our Own CC batters who amassed a mammoth total of 510 for 7 wickets in 45 overs. Faced with a massive winning target the Matunga Gymkhana batting collapsed and they were bowled out for a measly 74 runs in 24 overs and suffered a crushing defeat.

Our Own CC innings started shakily and lost both the opening batsmen with just 35 runs on the board in the fifth over. Thereafter, number 3 batsman Jaiswal dominated the bowling and his huge 279-run knock came from just 158 balls and was studded with 38 hits to the boundary and 12 powerful sixes.

Jaiswal along with Prakash Aswani 63 (26-balls, 8x4s, 3x6s) added a big 263-run partnership for the third wicket. He later put on 106 runs with Shreyas Vaidya 56 (47-balls, 6x4s, 2x6s) for the fourth wicket. Matunga Gymkhana bowlers Vyom Gada 3 for 72, Mudir Bhatt 2 for 33, and Karan Gala 2 for 67 shared the wickets. Later, Our Own bowlers Prasad Rahate 3 for 6, Nikhil Shigan 2 for 11, and Viren Dhatia 2 for 19 did the damage picking up quick wickets to dismiss Matunga Gymkhana for a paltry 74 runs to complete the victory.

In another match, Alhad Barve scored an unbeaten 111 runs which helped Cricket Club of Andheri register a 9-wicket victory against Shastri Hall Cricket Club at the SRT ground, Kandivali.

Electing to bat first, Shastri Hall CC were bowled out for 160 runs in 36.4 overs. Ajmat Shaikh was the leading scorer with 77 runs while Keshav Pimpale took 4 wickets for 17 runs. In response, Cricket Club of Andheri guided by the excellent batting of Alhad Barve who scored 111 runs not out reached 162 for 1 wicket in 26.4 overs to secure their 9-wicket success.

Shastri Hall CC 160 all out, 36.4 overs (Ajmat Shaikh 77; Keshav Pimpale 4/17) lost to Cricket Club of Andheri 162 for 1 wicket, 26.4 overs (Alhad Barve 111 not out). Result: Cricket Club of Andheri won by 9 wickets.
