Jaisinghani and Boricha march into pre-quarters

Gaurav Jaisinghani (+10 handicap) and Luv Boricha (+30 handicap) put up a good combined performance and managed to scrape past the team of Abhishek Soparkar (+20) and Nikhil Patel (+30) by a narrow 3-2 margin in a second round match of the Khar Gymkhana Snooker Shootout 2019, co-sponsored by Rustomjee Builders and Nagee Cues, and played at Khar Gymkhana’s Yasin Merchant Snooker Room.

 

Leading from the front Jaisinghani very comfortable prevailed over Patel 88-59 in the 15-red first frame, but his teammate Boricha lost to Soparkar 33-47 in the 6-red second frame. Later, Patel and Soparkar showed good understanding to pocket the 15-red doubles third frame 87-42 and take a 2-1 lead. But, Boricha found his touch in the nick of time and defeated Patel 82-66 in the 15-red fourth frame before Jaisinghani produced a solid consistent showing to tame Soparkar 82-10 in the deciding 6-red fifth frame and seal the win for his team and advance to the round of 16.

 

Meanwhile, in a first round match, the team of Mohsin Achhava (+30) and Karmesh Patel (+20) from Ahmedabad outplayed the seasoned Otters Club duo of Yash Babani (+30) and Steven Samuel (+30) 3-1 to progress into the second round.

 

In other first round encounters, the Park Club team of Sanjeev Bijlani (+30) and Amit Sapru (+30) defeated Chinmay Gawade (+30) and Mahadev Bhogle (+20) 3-1, while young Rayaan Razmi (+20) and his partner Vilas Upsham (+20) scored a 3-1 win against Darshan Rawal (+30) and Sumit Saldurkar (+20).
