A spirited Jai Bharat SC rode to a 2-1 win against Uchil United SC in a third-round league match of the 21st Late Shri Ramanath Payyade Football League Tournament 2016 –2017, conducted by the Karnatak Sporting Association and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan.
In an exciting and fast paced match, Jai Bharat against the run of play grabbed the initiative when Erhard Fernandes scored the first goal in the 25th minute to give his team a 1-0 half time lead. After changing ends, Dhanraj Shetty increased the lead by scoring second goal in the 53rd minute before Uchil United managed to reduce the margin for Uchil United when Kanhaiya Rathod scored a consolation goal in dying minutes of the game.
In the second match, Mangalore Blues SC trounced a depleted Jawahar Young Boys SC by a thumping 9-0 margin. Leading Mangalore Blues charge to victory was Aaron Machado who scored three goals, while Joshua Almeida scored a brace of goals. The other players who contributed towards the big was Lekhraj Kotian, Aditya Shetty, Rashmith Naik and Sandeep Chavan, all scoring one apiece to complete the tally.
