Jai Bharat storm into final


Jai Bharat SC maintained their excellent winning run of form as they stormed into the final of the 9th Late Adv. A.R. Kudroli Memorial Foootball Tournament, organised by KSA (Karnatak Sporting Association) and played at the KSA ground, Cross Maidan, Churchgate.

In a semi-final encounter Jai Bharat produced a decent combined performance to blank Udaya SC by a comfortable 2-0 margin. Strikers Samir Damor and Rushab Puthran netted a goal each to secure Jai Bharat’s victory and a place in the title round.

Jai Bharat will next take on Star of Canara SC in the final to decide which team emerges as the champion. Star of Canra recovered from a 0-1 deficit to overcome Karnatak SC 4-3 via the penalty the shootout tie-breaker after the match finished in a 1-1 stalemate.

Karnatak SC took a the lead through Aditya Swami’s first half goal before Sheldon Rego scored the equaliser for Star of Canara in the second half to take the match into the tie-breaker.

In the penalty shootout duel, Sheldon Rego, Nigel D’Souza and Karan Amin successfully converted from their attempts while Karnatak SC could only score two with Sagar Shetty, Carnel De Almeida finding success.

Results semi-finals:

Star of Canara SC 4 (Sheldon Rego 2, Nigel D’Souza, Karan Amin) beat Karnatak SC 3 (Aditya Swami, Sagar Shetty, Carnel De Almeida) via the tie-breaker. Full-time 1-1.
Jai Bharat SC 2 (Samir Damor, Rushab Puthran) beat Udaya SC 0.
