Isha Jadhav of Gupta’s Sports Academy produced a strong steady performance and broke the meet record in winning the Girls’ Under-14 400 metres gold medal in the 43rd Bombay YMCA State-Level Annual Athletic Meet 2019, organized under the auspices of the MCDAAA by the Bombay YMCA Physical Education Department, at the University Pavilion, Marine Lines on Friday morning.
The 13-year-old Isha, a class VII student of Matrix Academy School, Virar, led from the gun and eased past the line to win the one lap race in a new meet time of 61.8 seconds. Isha’s efforts shaved off one second of the previous mark of 61.9 secs set by Dzilla Mao of Prabodhan Krida Bhavan, Goregaon in 2014. Shreya Jana of Navi Mumbai Sports Academy took the silver in 62.0secs and the bronze went to Satara’s Anushka Khumbar of Shree Sidheshwar SC in 62.7secs.
Meanwhile, Diandra Valladares of Mumbai Port Trust continued with her impressive form and completed a grand double by winning the 200 metres gold to add to her 100 metres success on the opening day. Diandra despite not have a good race managed to finish in first place clocking a time of 24.9 seconds and equalled Akashya Iyer’s 2017 meet record. Saroj Shetty of Sprinters SC (26.0s) and Ekta Gaulkar of Seven Star SA (26.5s) claimed the silver and bronze medals respectively.
Rahul Kadam of Gupta’s SA clinched the 200 metres gold with a time of 21.6 seconds and equaled Shashank Shinde’s 2017 meet record. The silver was won by Akshay Prakash Khot of Office of the Chief Commission, Pune in 21.8secs, while Akshay Annappa Shetty of Infinity SC won the bronze in 22.2 seconds.
Michelle Fernandes of Holy Cross Sport Club, Kurla also bagged a double gold winning the girls under-18 100 metres hurdles and 400 metres events.

400m: 1. Michelle Fernandes (Holy Cross) – 61.4 secs, 2. Akanksha Gavade (Achievers SC) – 61.9s, 3. Sehyr Patel (Cathedral & John Connon School) – 64.8s.
Boys’ Under-14 – 400m: 1. Harsh Pauchari (Pro Athletes Academy) – 54.8 secs, 2. Akbar Hussain (Agnel Gymkhana) – 55.9s, 3. Parth Tushar Meher (J.S. Sports Academy) – 57.6s.
