International TT Referee A.M.Lele passes away


Atmaram Lele , popularly known as A.M.Lele in TT circle passed away today . He was 84. Mr. Lele contributed a lot to the game of table tennis for many years. Besides playing in the team event for his employers Glaxo Laboratories Ltd, along with Late KRV Rao, he began his service umpiring the TT matches in 70s. Later he was promoted as Chief Referee for Major State Ranking and national level TT tournaments.

He was the first international match referee from India selected for World Championship. Always cheerful, he was always helpful to all the players and was always available to discuss the TT rules with any player who approached him. Mr. lele was active on social networking media and always praised all those TT players who performed well at the national and international level. With his sad demise, the Table Tennis fraternity has lost a committed official who served the game of table tennis tirelessly, besides managing his regular 9 to 5 office work.
