IndianOil,BPCL clash in final


Indian Oil rode on Armaan Qureshi triple strikes to sent ONGC crashing to a 5-2 defeat in a semi-final match of the of the 36th PSPB Inter-Unit Hockey Tournament, organized and hosted by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and played at the MHAL-Mahindra stadium, Churchgate on Wednesday. The Indian Oil outfit enjoyed a slender 2-1 lead at the end of the first half.

Qureshi provided Indian Oil an early lead when he hit the target in the very sixth minute and 12 minutes later Affan Yousuf struck the second goal.

 

ONGC fought back and managed to reduce the deficit when Diwakar Ram converted a penalty corner in the 26th minute and in the first minute of the second period Gurjant Singh sounded the board to help his team restore parity.

 

But, seven minutes later Indian Oil regained the lead with Qureshi deflecting home their third goal and later Sumit Kumar scored the fourth from a penalty corner in the 50th minute to increase the lead. Qureshi fired home the fifth goal and also completed his hat-trick in the 65th minute.

 

Earlier, Bharat Petroleum defeated Engineers India Limited 4-2 and will meet Indian Oil in the final to be played on Thursday at 3.00pm.

 

Result:

Indian Oil 5 (Armaan Qureshi 3, Affan Yousuf, Sumit Kumar) beat ONGC 2 (Diwakar Ram, Gurjant Singh).

 

BPCL 4 (Swinder Singh 3, William Xalxo) beat Engineers India Limited 2 (Ganesh Singh, M. Barla).
