Indian Gymnastics League (IGL), a ground-breaking initiative by Gymnastics Sports and Events Private Limited, has been the first of its kind league for gymnastics in India. Last year, the IGL competition was conceptualized and hosted in memory of Late Mr. Ramesh Prabhoo, Ex Mayor / MLA (Mumbai), who had envisioned to create a world class sports facility for the gymnasts and provide them with platform to showcase their skill. Now, his son Mr. Arwind Prabhu has been taking keen interest in promotion of this sport.
The first edition of IGL was inaugurated as a proof of concept in December 2017 in Mumbai, India. The event was successfully hosted by Gymnastics Sports and Events Private Limited under the aegis of RYP Centre of Excellence .
The league comprised of 4 franchises teams with 8 players in the each team. The first season of IGL was successfully executed, and now IGL 2 is set to take place between 7th to 9th December 2018. An official announcement to this effect was made recently by Mr. Arwind Prabhu, Program Director at Prabodhankar Thackeray Kreeda Sankul( PTKS) and president of Chhatrapati Shivaji Smarak Samiti Vile Parle ( East). He also launched the website of Indian Gymnastics League( IGL) 2018 to enable the interested participants to submit their details online to enable the hosts to select them on the basis of their performance.
At PTKS, the organizers have a big team of volunteers and young gymnasts and they take the directions from Mr. Arwind Prabhu, who guides them to work hard so as to make this big event a grand success. Mr. Rakesh Nigudkar , the coordinator for this gymnastics event while speaking to magzmumbai said that the entire team works hard before and during the event, which has resulted in more and more children to take part in this activity in our club, where proper training facility is available.
