India Rush recover to clinch Bandra Gym women’s crown


India Rush came from behind to defeat I.C. United 3-2 via the tie-breaker and clinch the Women’s crown in the Bandra Gymkhana Annual Floodlit Rink Football Tournament 2019, organized under the auspices of the MDFA and played under floodlights at the DPRC grounds, Bandra. The match finished in a 1-all draw.

In the first half, I.C. United scored an early goal through Angeline Anthony to wrest the advantage. However, India Rush showed more urgency in the second half and struck a equalizer at the death through Rachel D’Costa to level scores and force the tie-breaker.

 

In the ensuing tie-breaker, India Rush successfully converted through Rachel and Linet Pereira, while I.C. United managed only one through Valencia D’Mello. Alisha Tavares (India Rush) was declared ‘Player of the tournament’.

 

Later, Ronnie-7 Sports Club scored once in each half to overcome Shalom United 2-0 in the Veterans’ Men’s final. Osborne D’Souza and Philip D’Souza netted one goal each to seal Ronnie-7’s win. Kingsley Rebello (Shalom United) was declared “Payer of the tournament’.

Final: India Rush 3 (Rachel D’Costa 2, Linet Pereira) beat I.C. United 2 (Angeline Anthony, Valencia D’Mello) via the tie-breaker. Fulll-time: 1-1.
