India On Track emerge Division-I champions


India On Track emerged champions defeating Om Saidham SA 5-3 via the tie-breaker in the First Division final of the Mumbai Football Association (MFA) League 2022-2023 and played at the Neville D’Souza Ground, Bandra.


 India On Track players are in a jubilant mood as they pose with the ‘Champions’ trophy after winning the First Division final 

Playing with plenty of grit and determination India On Track produced a late charge scoring two quick goals in added time to hold Om Saidham to a 2-2 draw and take the match to the penalty shootout. Om Saidham scored through Bharat Barani and Tanishq Gadge to take a 2-0 lead.

But, India On Track attackers showed greater intent and went all out in search of goals and their efforts were rewarded with goals in the dying moments of the match. Striker Rohan D’Silva scored their first goal in the fourth minute of additional time and two minutes later Joyson Chettiar scored the equalizer.

In the tie-breaker, India On Track showed better nerves and succeeded in converting three of their five attempts through Chettiar, Rohan D’Souza and Vernon Koli to clinch the win, while Om Saidham converted only one through Tanishq Gadge and finished runners-up.

Earlier, Soccer Saga SA defeated Kopana FC 1-0 in the third place match. Soccer Saga striker Soham Shintre scored the all-important winning goal.

Results – First Div – Final: India On Track 5 (Joyson Chettiar 2, Rohan D’Silva, Rohan D’Souza, Vernon Koli) beat Om Saidham SM 3 (Bharat Barani 2, Tanishq Gadge) via the tie-breaker. Full-time: 2-2.
