IES NewEnglish boys bag ISPL title


IES New English School from Bandra, Mumbai, defeated R.H. Kapadia School, Ahmedabad by 5 wickets to bag the boy’s under-16 title in the All India ISPL (Inter-Schools Premier League) cricket tournament, organized by The Sports Gurukul and played at the I-Land Ajmera cricket ground, Wadala.

Electing to field first, the Mumbai school team dismissed the opponents from Ahmedabad for a small total of 131 runs in 26.5 overs. Later, IES New English School reached the winning target by scoring 135 runs and in the process lost 5 wickets in 20.3 overs to win the match by 5 wickets.

Meanwhile, Billabong High International School, Thane claimed both the boys’ and girls’ under-16 basketball titles.

In the boys final, Billabong defeated Don Bosco HS, Matunga 25-18 to emerge champions, while in the girls title round, Billabong ‘A’ team tamed their second string Billabong ‘B’ 25-10 to annex the girls’ under-16 crown.

P.G. Garodia, Mumbai emerged supreme in boys’ under-16 category as they got the better of Billabong High International School, Thane by a narrow 41-39 margin in a hard-fought final.

Results (all finals): Cricket –  Boys’ under-16: R.H. Kapadia School (Ahmedabad) 131 all out, in 26.5 overs lost to IES New English School (Bandra, Mumbai) 135 for 5, in 20.3 overs. IES English School won the final match by 5 wickets.

Basketball – Boys’ under-14: P.G. Garodia (Mumbai) beat Billabong High International School (Thane, Mumbai) 41-39.

Boys’ under-16: Billabong High International School (Thane, Mumbai) beat Don Bosco (Matunga, Mumbai) 25-18.

Girls’ under-14: Hiranandani Foundation School (Thane, Mumbai) beat Billabong High International School (Thane, Mumbai) 11-7.

Girls’ under-16: Billabong High International School ‘A’ (Thane, Mumbai) beat Billabong High International School ‘B’ (Thane, Mumbai) 25-10.
