ICICI Bank ‘A’ hogged the opening day’s honours as they produced a strong combined effort to clinch a deserving 3-2 win against Tata Capital in a quarter-final encounter of the mixed team’s event in the 3rd edition of the 11Even Sports Inter-Corporate TT tournament promoted by NSportz and played at the Khar Gymkhana on Saturday.
Action during the men’s team matches
In a match of fluctuating fortunes, the scores were level at 2-all, before Glen won the decider to give ICICI the victory. Glen showed cool nerves in the fifth rubber (2nd men’s singles) and very comfortably overcome Amish C in straight games 11-1, 13-11, 11-7 to see his team wrap up the match and go through to the semi-finals.
Meanwhile, Reliance proved far too superior for ICICI Security as they stormed to an easy 3-0 victory.
In other quarter-final matches, TCS (Tata Consultancy Services) and The Design Club scored identical 3-1 wins against Majesco and HDFC Bank respectively.
