To be invited to screen his or her film at an international film festival is an honour to any producer, director. Producer Anil Garg is a chosen few whose first film I Am Banni was invited to be screened at International Children’s Film Festival held recently at Lucknow. I Am Banni attempts to highlight the importance of education. In our country in quite a few rural places girls are not allowed to go to school after elementary education. It’s a social menace and a hurdle in the development of the nation. Anil Garg witnessed this problem from a close quarter and after research he decided to throw light on this through his film I Am Banni which is written and directed by K K Makwana and Nitin Chaudhary. This film was chosen to be screened as an inaugural movie of ICFF and was selected from 156 films submitted.
U P government’s Law & Order minister Shri Brijesh Pathak inaugurated the ICFF and quite a few film celebrities were present including Darsheel Safari, Anushka Sen, Rubal Jain, Rudra Soni, Aman Siddiqui and Boman Irani among others. Mr Irani was all praise for Anil Garg for his courageous step to make a movie on subject like importance of girl education in rural sector. Everybody liked the movie and it received standing ovation. Mr. Nils Malmros, Mr. Shyama Prasad, Miss Lali kiknavelidze, Mr. Arun Chaddha. Mr. N. Vidyashankar, & Mr. Varghese Kurian were jury members. This 90 minute film is expected to spread awareness regarding importance of education, especially girl education from rural India.
After premiering I Am Banni was shown to almost 3000 students, who loudly cheered, while local cable operators streamed it live during the period. Resultantly this movie reached number of youth audience who matter. The producer intend to show the film to more than 95000 students in the coming days and importantly it’s going to be free of cost. Along with some raw talent this film has Gaurav Garg and Roshni Walia in pivotal roles who were felicitated with trophies and certificates by the festival organisers.
R G Movies Productions presentation I Am Banni has a motto viz ‘Cinema goes to school for supporting girl child education’ and producer Anil Garg has a plan to screen the film across schools in India. It will have a theatrical release too in the coming days.
