Hussain shines in Mumbai CC win


All-rounder Amanat Hussain was in impressive form and his splendid bowling four wickets for 14 runs and solid batting scoring an unbeaten 65 runs was the highlight in leading Mumbai Cricket Club to a convincing eight-wicket win against Maharashtra Young Cricketers in a pre-quarter-final match of the 3rd MCA Under-19 Cricket Tournament organized by Bhama Cricket Club in association with Mumbai Cricket Club under the aegis of the Mumbai Cricket Association and played at the Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana ground, Kandivali.

Electing to bat first, Maharashtra Young Cricketers rocked by the superb bowling performance of Hussain and Shashank Kumar were bowled out for a measly 86 runs in 25.1 overs. Later, Mumbai Cricket Club easily surpassed the winning target making 90 for the loss of just two wickets. Hussain batted confidently and single-handedly carried his team to victory.

In another last 16 match, Payyade Sports Club recorded a resounding 131-run victory over Parsee Gymkhana to also advance into the quarter-finals.

Batting first, Payyade SC amassed a massive total of 237 for seven wickets from their quota of 35 overs. The leading batters were Satyam Yadav 78 runs, Pranay Kapadia 40 runs and Aditya Vishwakarma 38 runs, while Ashmith Kashyap 3 for 32 and Anirudh Nair 3 for 46 claimed most of the wickets. In response, Parsee Gymkhana managed to score only 106 before losing all their wickets in 29.5 overs. Payyade bowler Vansh Akbari picked three wickets for 21 runs.

Brief scores – Quarter-finals: Maharashtra Young Cricketers 86 all out, 25.1 overs (Amanat Hussain 4/14, Shashank Kumar 3/19) lost to Mumbai Cricket Club 90 for 2, 16.2 overs (Amanat Hussain 65*). Result: Mumbai Cricket Club won by eight wickets.

Payyade SC 237 for 7, 35 overs (Satyam Yadav 78, Pranay Kapadia 40, Aditya Vishwakarma 38, Ashmith Kashyap 3/32, Anirudh Nair 3/46) beat Parsee Gymkhana 106 all out, 29.5 overs (Vansh Akbari 3/21). Result: Payyade SC won by 131 runs.
