Western Railway cueists Mohmed Husain and Nikhil Gadge scored contrasting wins in their best-of-7 frame second round matches of the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red Open Snooker Tournament 2018, sponsored and hosted by Matunga Gymkhana, under the auspices of BSAM and played at the gymkhana’s billiards hall.
While Husain took the shorter route to cruise past Shivaji Park Gymkhana’s Naman Agrawal 4-0 (32-21, 35-15, 39-15, 31-23), Gadge worked hard to overcome the challenge from Sahil Badami of Mazagon by chugging to a 4-3 (30-35, 1-34, 34-8, 34-18, 7-31, 44-11, 39-16) victory to advance to the third round.
Meanwhile, Zulfikar Saria of Cricket Club of India potted steadily and produced another fine performance to tame Nikhil Lalwani of Chembur Gymkhana 4-1 (42-11, 24-21, 34-26, 19-30, 39-1) in another second round encounter.
In an interesting second round match, Omar Farooqui from Aurangabad scored a stunning win against local challenger Amit Sapru of Park Club snatching a 4-2 (34-27, 17-41, 0-48, 29-27, 32-29, 46-19 victory.
Usama Khaik of Q-Club, Vashi, also tasted success by defeating Prapdeep Singh of MIG Cricket Club 4-2 (30-39, 40-9, 40-13, 15-41, 42-12, 42-14.
