In excess of 225 players, including more than 100 FIDE rated players will participate in the Kotak Mutual Fund Scholastic & Blitz Chess Championship, conducted by Indian Chess School to celebrate International Chess Day at the Don Bosco High School, Borivali (West) on July 23 and 24, 2016.
The scholastic event would be held in 4-categories, for players Under-08/10/12/15 (Boys & Girls separate) and it would be played on a 7-round Swiss-league tournament with a time-control of 40 minutes + 5 seconds per player whereas the Blitz chess championship would be a 15-round affair with time-control of 5 minutes + 3 seconds/player.
At stake is a prize fund of Rs 52,500 for the Blitz Championship while a total of 80 trophies would be awarded to the winners of scholastic events (12 trophies to Boys & 8 to Girls in each age category).
The tournament is being conducted under the aegis of Mumbai Suburban District Chess Association and championship games would be streamed live on internet and mobile apps.
