Hridini impresses in Mahindra Park win


Mahindra Park produced a solid determined performance to record a fighting 47-35 (half-time: 18-24) win against host Nagpada Basketball Association in a Girls’ Under-18 first-round match of the NNBA basketball tournament 2024 played under floodlights at the Late Bachoo Khan Municipal Playground, Nagpada late Saturday evening.

The victorious Mahindra Park team was well-served by sharp-shooter Hridini Sawardekar who scored 17 points. She received good support from Laranya Amin 13 points and Grace Pereira 10 points to complete the win. The Nagpada Basketball Association girls put up a strong fight with Laxmi Gupta and Saira Shah scoring 14 and 12 points respectively.

Ananya Mane scored 6 points in Christ Church’s 16-6 win against Villa Teresa in a Girls’ U-14 match.

Later, in a girls’ under-14 match Christ Church riding on baskets from Ananya Mane 6 points and Jizelle Pereira and  Sysha Ranka both scoring 4 points each defeated Villa Teresa 16-6.

Meanwhile, Campion School had things their way and charged to a 41-17 (HT: 19-5) win against Green Acres in a boys’ under-14 match. Shrikrishna M. scored 12 points for the winning Campion team and Reyansh S. chipped in with 6 points. Hriday M. 6 points was Green Acres top-scorer.

Results – Girls’ U-18: Mahindra Park (Hridini Sawardekar 17, Laranya Amin 13, Grace Pereira 10) beat Nagpada Basketball Association (Laxmi Gupta 14, Saira Shah 12) – 47-35 (HT: 18-24).

Boys’ U-14: P.V. Garodia (Shrinivas Parab 20) beat St. Mary’s (Zaahu Das 15) – 32-17 (HT: 32-3).

Campion School (Shrikrishna M. 12, Reyansh S 6) beat Green Acres (Hriday M. 6) – 41-17 (HT: 19-5).

Girls’ U-14: Christ Church (Ananya Mane 6, Jizelle Pereira 4, Sysha Ranka 4) beat Villa Teresa 16-6.
