Defending champions Gatkopar Jets made an impressive start in their campaign, by beating Thane Marathas by six wickets in the double-leg Mitsui Shoji T-20 League, sponsored by Lal Bharwaney and held at Police Gymkhana ground,here today.
Thane Marathas, put into bat, did well to hit up a formidable score of 159 for eight in the allotted 20 overs. But with Bhavesh Patel (45) and Gaurish Jadhav (n.o.47) in splendid touch, the Ghatkopar outfit made light of their target and were home with six wickets to spare.
In another tie in the aftrnoon. Mumbai Police Cityriders, made amends for their opening day’s defeat, as their Mumbai Ranji opener Jay Bista (n.o.63) and Shubham Ranjane (n.o.47) batted with gay abandon to belt the Shivaji Park Warriors attack to knock off their 124 runs target without much ado. Earlier, the Shivaji Park Warriors batsmen , barring their opener Eknath Kerkar (42), fumbled both against pace and spin as they ended with 124 off 20 0vers.
