Hockey Olympian and former International umpire Geeta (nee Sareen) Biswas, passed away early Thursday morning, here in Mumbai. Geeta, 64, is survived by husband Amit and two daughters.

Geeta, who was employed with Air India, had represented the Indian hockey team at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. After her playing stint she continued with the sport in the capacity of an official and grew to the status of becoming an international umpire.
The last rites were held on Thursday afternoon.
