Hekmat hat-trick helps Customs’ win


Seasoned Hekmat Singh gave a fine exhibition of clinical finishing, as he went on to record a superb hat-trick which powered Mumbai Customs to an authoritative 6-0 victory against an insipid Kenkre FC in an Elite Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2015-2016, and played at the at the Cooperage ground. Praneel Mendon opened the scoring while Rinaldo Fernandes and Naseeb C got the other three goals to complete Customs convincing win.

The Customs outfit showed good understanding and coordination to completely dominate the match. Customs did not take too long too long to open the scoring with another experienced player Praneel Mendon hitting the target in the very sixth minute. Three minutes later Hekmat got into the scoring act with his first goal to double customs lead before Nazeef C scored the third in the 14th minute.

Customs continued to raid the Kenkre citadel and Hekmat scored from two snap efforts to further widen the lead. Young Rinaldo Fernandes hammered in the final goal in the 45th minute.

In the second session Customs went easy and did not go out in search of more goals as they seemed satisfied with the result.
Meanwhile in Super Division matches, Juhu Sparks defeated Maharashtra State Police 3-1 and in the second match, Soccer XI and Mumbai Warriors were involved in a 1-1 draw.

Results – Elite Division: Mumbai Customs 6 (Praneel Mendon 6th, Hekmat Singh 9th, 31st, 41st, Nazeef C 14th, Rinaldo Fernandes 45th) beat Kenkre FC 0.
Super Div: Mumbai Warrior 1 (Akshay Pashilkar) drew with Soccer XI 1 (Azariant T.).
Juhu Sparks 3 (Nickhel D’Souza 2, Akash Anil) beat Maharashtra State Police 1 (Kiran Mohite).
