Heeva Patel makes clean sweep with five golds


Bombay YMCA’s Heeva Patel, winning five golds  in the girls under-9 section, emerged as best swimmer in the Greater Mumbai Amaetur Aquatic Association’s Lower Age Group Swim meet, held at Khar Gymkhana. Yesterday. While the boys under-9 section was dominated by Pratyakshvir Parmar , of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports Sankul, who captured four golds and a silver medals.


Champions in various boys and girls age groups pose with their trophies flanked by GMAAA  Secretary Ms Snehal Bahl (extreme right) and other GMAAA officials Pradeep Divgikar and Vinay Bhagnani.

Heeva triumphed in all the five events, viz 100m individual medley (01:38.42 secs), 50m freestyle (0039.61); 50m butterfly (00:46.48); 50m breast stroke (00:52.28) and 50 m backstroke (00:47.31).

Among boys, Pratyakshvir Parmar , unlike Heeva, however did have to bring out his best against his rival, Abir Seth from Goregaon Spots Club  before he took golds in 50m backstroke (00:44.17), 50m breast stroke (00:50.74), 50m butterfloy (00:40.00) and 100m individual medley (01:36.46). The only event where Abir pipped him was the 50m freestyle stroke.

Individual Champions:

BOYS: (Under-5):  Kiyaan Palande (PSP) – 3 Golds.(Under-6): Malhar Gitaye (CSMSS) –   4 Golds. (Under-7): Evaan Shah (Andheri SC)- 4 Golds.(Under-8):  Daksh Shah (Ozone SP)- 1 G+ 2 S+1B. (Under-9): Pratyakshvir Parmar (CSMSS)- 4G+1S.

GIRLS: (Under 5): Veda Naik (CSMSS)- 3 Golds.(Under 6): Avni Gupta (Goregaon SC)- 3 G+1 S. (Under 7): Rasya Kopikar (Forest Club)- 3 G+1B. (Under 8):  Sakshi Vemal Goregaon SC) – 3 G+1 S+1B.(Under 9): Heeva Patel (Bombay YMCA)-  5 Gold.
