Promoted outfit HDFC started with a flourish as they stormed to a fluent 4-0 win against Young Boys SC in a Super Division match of the MDFA (Mumbai District Football Association) League 2016-2017, and played at the Mumbai Football Arena, Shahaji Raje Bhosale Kreeda Sankul-BKLP (Andheri Sports Complex) on Saturday evening.
Leading HDFC’s charge was striker Liston Fonseca who scored two goals while Kevin D’Silva and Jayesh Rane added one each to seal the win.
The HDFC outfit seemed to have done their homework well as they showed better coordination and created more scoring chances to dominate the proceedings from the start. However, they had to wait till the 34th minute to open the scoring through Fonseca.
That goal infused more spark in the HDFC and they scored two quick goal in as many minutes just before half-time. D’Silva scored thined e second in the 43rd minute before Fonseca was again on target with the third goal in next minute as HDFC went into the break with a solid 3-0 lead.
HDFC maintained the pressure on resumption and within three minutes struck the fourth through Rane. Thereafter, HDFC dropped pace but, their defence ensured that the rival attackers did not have a clear scoring opportunity.
Results – Super Div: HDFC 4 (Liston Fonseca 2, Kevin D’Silva, Jayesh Rane) beat Young Boys 0.
