Defending champions HDFC (Housing Development Finance and Corporation) start favoourite to retain their crown in the 4th Mumbai Inter-Corporate Table Tennis tournament, which gets underway at Khar Gymkhana on Saturday (October 14) and Sunday (October 15).
The event, organized by P3 Sports Management under the guidance of Moonmoon Mukherjee, ex- table tennis international has attracted 24 Corporates teams. Apart from holders HDFC, the other teams likely to be in the fray are Accenture , HDFC Life , HDFC Bank , Indo Star Financial Ltd , TCS , Bank of America , Edelweiss, IProspect , Motilal Oswal , LNT , Aditya Birla Group. Some of the teams will be represented by players from outside Mumbai/state as well.
The team event will be followed by the open events, comprising men’s, women’s and veteran singles and doubles. However, in the open paired events, players can take partners from other than from their own teams. The teams will be divided into four groups each of four teams with top two teams going into the knock-out stage.
