Harsh steers MVSC into Ajit Naik final 


M.V. Sports Club inspired by the determination and fighting qualities of all-rounder Harsh Kadam (76 & 36 runs) and 2 wickets for 7 runs (1st innings) defeated MIG Cricket Academy by three wickets on the second day of their 2-day semi-final of the 28th Ajit Naik Memorial Selection Trial Boys’ U-14 cricket tournament, played at the MIG CC ground.

Harsh batted responsibly during his 129-ball innings which contained 10 boundaries. His patient knock held their innings together and ensured M.V. Sports Club, resuming at the overnight score of 107 for 4, reach a total of 159 all out in 51.3 overs. Having dismissed MIG CA for 143 runs they gained a 16-run lead.

MIG CA batting flopped for the second time as they were bowled out for just 102 runs in 24.5 overs and left the opposition a target of 86 runs for a win. Vedang Mishra was the only batter to score 46, while Nirvaan Shah claimed 4 for 28.

M.V. Sports Club batters found the going tough in their second essay but Harsh once again played responsibly making a valuable 36 runs to propel his team to victory. MIG’s bowler Agastya Kashikar picked 3 for 24.

Meanwhile, Souvenir CC defeated Islam Gymkhana by taking the first innings lead in the second semi-finals. The teams did not bat in the second innings.

Souvenir were bundled out for 139 in 40 overs in the first innings, but they did well to skittle out Islam Gymkhana for 115 in 43.3 overs.

MIG Cricket Academy – 1st innings: 143 all out, 53.4 overs (Vedang Mishra 40, Pradnyankur Bhalerao 34, Darshav Ojha 30; Nikhil Gurav 6/27) & 2nd innings: 102 all out, 24.5 overs (Vedang Mishra 46; Nirvaan Shah 4/28) lost to  M.V. Sports Club – 1st innings: (overnight 107 for 4) 159 all out, 51.3 overs (Harsh Kadam 76 (129-balls, 10×4); Arnav Nikalje 3/37, Suraj Kewat 3/7) & 2nd innings: 87 for 7, 16.4 overs (Harsh Kadam 36; Agastya Kashikar 3/24). Result: M.V. Sports Club won by 3 wickets.
