Penalty corner specialist Harjeet Singh converted three penalty corners, the third in the final minute as Union Bank snatch a close 3-2 win against Bombay Republicans in a Super Division match of the MHAL League 2017-2018, at the MHAL-Mahindra Stadium, Churchgate on Thursday evening.
Harjeet scored the first two goals from firm drag flicks in the 14th and 29th minutes to give Union Bank a commanding 2-0 half-time advantage. But, the young Republicans outfit worked hard and managed to draw level through goals from Darshan Gawkar (55th minute) and Bhushan Khanorkar (69th minute). However, they conceded another penalty corner which was successfully converted by Harjeet from an indirect drill.
Union Bank’s ace drag-flicker Harjeet Singh, who scored all the three goals for his team bagged the ‘Man of the Match’ award and received a cash award of Rs 1,000.
On Friday, Sports Authority of India meet Mumbai Port Trust at 4.00pm.
