Harita Bhadra of Somaiya Sports Academy sprinted to gold, winning the 100 metres dash in the girls’ under-16 category in the Mumbai Suburban District Athletic Association Annual Athletics Championship sponsored by Rizvi Builders, Striders Foundation and Universal Sports Association and organized by MSDAA at the Sports Authority of India athletic track, Kandivali on Thursday.
The dynamic Harita ran powerfully to cross the finish line first in an impressive time of 12.7 secs and equalled the meet record. Krishni Jumani (R.B Speedster) claimed the silver in a time of 13.4 sec and was followed in third place by Sakshi Kolekar (Sports Authority of India) in 13.8 secs.
Meanwhile, Nish Mehta of Savio Sports leapt to a new record in clinching the boys under-18 long jump gold. Nish cleared a distance of 6.95 metres, which bettered the previous meet record of 6.68 mts , to finish in first place. Mahendra Suthar (Abhuday Sports Academy) who bagged the silver with an effort of 6.82 mts also better the existing meet record, while Krish Solanki (Gupta Sports Academy) – 6.45 mts took the bronze.
