Young Halima Dhorajiwala, gave a fine performance, beating all her three rivals Harsh Naidu, Hriday Khandelwal and Arnab Barwa successively, to top her group‘G’. She proved her supremacy in her group, defeating all three of them with straight games victories in the ‘Spin 2 Win’ Under-15 Open event of the Promotional table tennis tournament played today evening at Prabodhankar Thackeray Krida Sankul( PTKS), Vile Parle.
Earlier, Little Mehaan Shah won a close battle against Abhiraj Khandelwal . Unfortunately, both of them couldn’t qualify for the main draw from their group. Ayushi Shirgaonkar who had put up a good show by qualifying for the main draw of the Above-15 Open category singles yesterday, continued with her winning run in the Under-15 Open singles today, as she topped her group and qualified for the main draw of this event too. Swaraa Gudekar who could not qualify for the main draw, tried her best in her group B and won one match, to finish third from her group.
Among others who qualified for the main draw topping their respective groups were : Hridaan Pol, Sameer Sharma, Yuvraj Khandwala, Sparsh Agarwal , Aarav Shah & Vivyaan Gada; while Shoorya Karkera, Prithvee Prashant, Neerja Khedekar, Manav Darji, Kayesh Turakhia,Harsh Naidu and Ishaan Kiyawat qualified by securing 2nd position in their respective groups.
Tomorrow’s main draw knock out stage matches will begin from 5 pm onwards.
