Vipul Gorai Football Club came up with solid late charge and defeated Shelar Football Club by a big 6-0 margin in a third round Group-B league match of the 5th Borivali Football League (BFL) – 2022, conducted under the aegis of Mumbai Football Association, and played at the St. Francis D’Assisi HS ground, Borivali. The Borivali League is being supported by MOC (Mumbai Oncocare Centre) and PCPL (Pranav Constructions Private Limited).
The heroes of Vipul Gorai’s win were Shubham Gole, Yash Kansara and Aryan Yadav, all chipping in with two goals apiece to complete the win.
Earlier, in the Group-A encounter, Nine Stars Football Club produced a strong performance and blanked I.C. Sporting Club 5-0. Leading Nine Stars onslaught was Dhanesh Akolu who netted a brace of goals, while Kaustubh Sawant, Hitesh Purohit, and Paul Almeida contributed one goal each to round-off the winning tally. The ‘Man of the Match’ was won by Akolu.
Later, in another Group-B match, Challengers Football Club and Milan Club shared honours as they played out a goalless draw. Tausheen Shaikh of Challengers FC won the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
Shelar FC showed plenty of promise initially and defended well against the dominant Vipul Gorai outfit and conceded just two goals in the first session. In the second half, Vipul Gorai continued to hold sway and in the final 10 minutes scored four goals to seal their massive victory.
Midway through the first half, Gole scored the opening goal and just before the half-time whistle he was again on target to give Vipul Gorai a 2-0 cushion at the break.
On resumption, Shelar FC continued to put up a spirited fight, but they were unable to break down the Vipul Gorai defence and failed to score a single goal. All of a sudden the Vipul Gorai attackers showed greater urgency and produced a late charge and repeatedly raided the Shelar FC defence and strikers Kansara and Yadav pounced on the openings to score the last four goals and help their team finish on a high. Midfielder Vishal Venugopal for his hard-work was rewarded with the ‘Man of the Match’ award.
