Good show by Sahil, Aryaman; Double for Aarav, Armaan & Malhar


13 year old Sahil Mohite from MLWB club caused a major upset in the Mumbai City District( MCD)  & The Wellingdon Sports Club 3 Star District ranking table tennis tournament, which concluded recently. Sahil toopled top seeded Shlok Janavlekar 3-1 in the quarter finals of Boys U-19 Singles. He later, bagged a Bronze medal in this event. Sahil also bagged a bronze medal in this Boys U-17 event. His best performance was in Boys U-15 where he reached the finals and lost to Aarav Sanghi, who bagged a double by winning the Boys U-17 event also.Aarav was also runner up in Boys U-19 singles.

Aryaman Bhatia also caused another major upset in this tournament, when he defeated top seeded Mandar Chiplunkar in the semi finals of Men’s Singles. Later, in the finals Aryaman lost to Armaan Dalamal, who bagged a double by winning Boys U-19 event, besides winning the Men’s event.

Malhar Talwalkar also bagged a double by winning the Boys U-11 and Boys-U-13 event. In both the finals he beat Akhil Kampani. The Women’s Singles event was won by Senhora D’Souza who beat Shweta Parte Nayak in the finals. In the Veterans’ women’s final Amita Sing Kalkal beat Spenta Umrigar and in the Veterans’ Men’s finals Bhavesh Shah beat Saurabh Mohite.

Swara Gudekar, Sara Jamsutkar, Arpita Borhade and Anshita Tamhankar had mixed luck in the two events each they played, as they shared a Gold and Silver each. Arpita Borhade won the Girls U-15 event beating Sara Jamsutkar, but lost to Anshita Tamhankar in Girls U-17 finals. And, Anshita lost to Keisha Jhaveri in Girls U-19 finals. Swaraa beat Krisha Tanna to win the Girls U-11 event but lost to Sara in Girls U-13 finals.
