Good show by P.J.Hindu Gymkhana teams


P.J.Hindu Gymkhana, Marine Drive, Mumbai, which is known for encouraging all sports, has about 50 active Table tennis players, who regularly take part in Open Table tennis tournaments. No wonder, the Gymkhana has placed eight teams in different divisions for the  Annual Mumbai City District Inter Club Table Tennis League Tournament. The league matches have already begun from last Friday and are now in progress.

Today evening there were as many as four matches played at P.J. Hindu Gymkhana , with their three teams winning their respective matches. The only match they lost was in 4th Division, to Central YMCA team. Both Gymkhana teams in 3rd division playing in two different sections, won their respective matches.  In the second division the Gymkhana team represented by former international Suhas Kulkarni, Veterans’ Champion Pinakin Sampat and Jayant Kulkarni scored an easy win over NSCI.

 

The only match , which was stretched to five matches, was between PJ Hindu Gymkhana F team and Students YMCA D, in the 3rd Division section I, where the three Gymkhana team players Rajesh Pandit, Ulhas Shirke & J.D.Maheshwari, won one match each, to record  3- 2 win over their tough rivals.  Students YMCA team were represented by Ketan Gandhi, Pranav Shah & Shyam Bhalerao . Though Ketan Gandhi won both his matches,  his efforts went in vain.  Reports of other matches could not reach till late night. The league matches will go on till Thursday and are being played on ‘home & away’ basis.
