Good response for Rotary Cup All India U-14 Tennis


An overwhelming response of over 120 entries, have been received for the inaugural edition the ROTARY Cup All India Ranking Championship Series Under-14 Tennis Tournament 2017, to be organized by the Rotary Club of Bombay Midcity (district 3141) in association with AITA and MSLTA and to be played at the MSLTA’s Dr. G.A. Ranade Tennis Centre, Cooperage Road on February 11 and 12.

This was announced by Bharat Parekh, President, Rotary Club of Bombay Midcity at a press conference at the MSLTA Tennis Centre, Mumbai on Tuesday evening.

“Over 120 participants, both boys’ and girls’, have already registered to play in this tournament. With online registrations still open we expect the number of entries to increase. The MSLTA officials will decide on the limit of entries to be accepted,” Parekh informed media persons.

All the leading players from across India are going to participate in this two-day event. Last date of registration for this event is Friday, February 10, 2017.

“There will be two events, boys’ singles and girls’ singles. The initial rounds will be of one set, but the final rounds will be played over three sets. The winners will receive trophies and AITA Ranking points will be awarded to winners and runners-up,” Parekh further said.

“Rotary Club has a lot of youth avenue programs in the field of Education and Sports and the Idea behind this U-14 tournament is to groom and nurture young talent and give them a platform to showcase their potential and become future stars,” said Gopal Rai Mandhania, District Govenor, Rotary Club.

Mandhania and Parekh along with other Rotary members later unveiled the two Trophies to be presented to the boys and girls’ champions.

The club had recently organized a “Rotary Fellowship Tennis Tournament” for their fellow Rotarians ,Rotaractors and their family members last Sunday, February 5, at the same venue.
