Girish Pimpale leads Ave Maria into final with four goals


 

Opportunistic scorer Girish Pimpale struck four goals in leading Ave Maria, Dadar to an authoritative 10-4 victory against SAISA Sports Club in a Men’s Open semi-final match of the Mount Carmel Invitation Floodlit Rink Hockey Tournament – 2018, organised by the Carmel Sports Committee and played under floodlights at the Mount Carmel Church compound.

Pimpale received good support from teammates Vinay Walmiki and Solomon Alexander, both contributing two goals each while Vikram Singh and Nitin Kumar added one each to complete the margin of victory. For SAISA, the goals came through a brace by Saurabh Bhaydekar and one each from Oriston D. and Smit Devekar.

 

In the final, Ave Maria will take on Sea View SC who pulled off a deserving 4-2 win against a determined Rebels SC. Karan Kapoor scored twice while Julius Fernandes and Gavin Vandrine netted one apiece to secure Sea View’s win, while Jonathan D’Souza and  Enrico Fernandes scored one goal each for Rebels.

 

In Women’s semi-final encounters, Freunds SC outplayed Hockey Lovers SC 9-1 and Westtern Railway eked out a close 3-2 win against Sea View SC to set a clash in the summit round.

Western Railway 3 (Th. Ranjita, Riituja S., Jaswinder Kaur) beat Sea View SC 2 (Mamta Passi, Akshaya Shetty).

 

Veteran Men’s (semi-finals): Rebels SC 7 (Solomon Alexander 3, Errol D’Silva 3, Madan Vishwanathan) beat Kalina Village Boys 4 (Fr. Benhur R. 2, Kingston Reebeello, Royston Jacinto).

 

Air India 8 (Darryl D’Souza 3, Devinder Kumar 2, Anil Aldrin, Simon Pascal D’Souza, Gavin Ferreira) beat Hockey Dadar 2 (Oswald D’Souza, Nasir Khondkar).

 

Men’s Open (semi-finals): Sea View SC 4 (Karan Kapoor 2, Julius Fernandes, Gavin Vandrine) beat Rebels SC 2 (Jonathan D’Souza, Enrico Fernandes).
