Bandra Gym football report:
A determined Geostanne SC managed to eke out a close 1-0 win against Castle Boys SC in a keenly contested Men’s Open third round match of the 25th Bandra Gymkhana Open Rink Football Tournament and played under floodlights at the Demonte Park Recreational Ground, Bandra. The hero of Geostanne’s win was Nikhil Singh who managed to score the crucial winner to take his team to the pre-quarter-final round.
Meanwhile in a keenly contested women’s quarter-final encounter, FC Mumbaikar scored a thrilling 2-1 win against M. Stars FC. Strikers Advaita De and Reva Tagare did the star turn for FC Mumbaikar by scoring a goal each, while M. Stars pulled one back through Pratiksha Shinde.
In another women’s match, Leaders FC powered by Delfiya Pereira’s brace of goals overcame Baze FC 2-1. Sai Sankhe netted the lone goal for the losers.
In men’s veteran action, striker Glen Moraes struck both the goals as Ronnie-7 SC prevailed over Crazy Boys SC by a narrow 2-1 margin. Sanjay Singh scored Crazy Boys lone goal.
Golden Gunners enjoyed a much easier outing as they blanked Reserve Bank of India 4-0. Anthony Fernandes, Osburne D’Souza, Douglas D’Sena and Utpal Kadam, all contributed with a goal each to seal Gunners victory.
