Fr.Agnel emerge overall champions


Fr. Agnel Multipurpose High School won the boys’ under-11 and under-14 basketball titles and also bagged the overall ‘Team Championship Trophy’ in the inaugural Sports For All (SFA)-India’s Premier Inter- School Sporting System, which was conducted at the D.Y. Patil Sports Stadium, Nerul.

In the basketball competition, the final event of the 10-day inter-schools sporting extravaganza, Fr. Agnel’s boys’ under-11 team defeated strong contenders P.G. Garodia School 19-13 in a closely fought final. Later their under-14 outfit prevailed over Jamnabai Narsee International School 15-4 to emerge victorious.

Fr. Agnel finished as the leading school with a tally of 94 points having clinched 14 gold medals, 4 silver and 6 bronze medals. In second place was New Horizon Public School with 60 points (7 gold, 5 silver, 5 bronze) and Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Vidyalaya was third with 49 points (4 gold, 5 silver, 7 bronze).

Meanwhile, P.G. Garodia lifted the girls’ under-14 and boys’ under-16 basketball crowns. The girls easily defeated Vidya Niketan School 23-10 and their boys’ side overcame Pantnagar Municipal School by a 38-20 margin.

Girls’ under-11: Divine Child bt Fr. Agnel 49-32.
Boys’ under-14: Fr. Agnel bt Jamnabai Narsee International 15-4.

Boys’ under-16: P.G. Garodia bt Pantnagar Municipal School 38-20.
Girls’ under-16: Mary Immaculate bt Fr. Agnel 47-30.
