Former State and National level Table Tennis player Jagannath Mohite passed away today afternoon at his residence in Mumbai. He was 68. He is survived by his two sons Saurabh , Rohan, brother Mahendra and sisters. Last month, he was detected with Pancreas Cancer, which was in the fourth stage. For the past few days his conditioned had worsened and was treated at home.
One of the finest top spin players during 70s, Jagannath had won many titles in the local TT Championships and played at the state and national level tournaments. He represented Reserve Bank of India and later NABARD in the team events. Jagannath was a reputed TT coach and has produced many good TT players. He regularly played at the PJ Hindu Gymkhana and MLWB club. Jagannath Mohite also participated Veterans TT tournaments and had also taken part in the Masters’ National events. His last appearance was at the Jaipur Masters’ Nationals in 2018. He was also member of India Seniors( 60+) in the South Asian Veterans TT championship in Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2017.
His funeral will take place today eveningaround 6 pm at Bhoiwada crematorium.
