Former National ‘B’ champion, FM Sajandas Joshi (ELO 2120) played a good attacking game to score a fine win against Yuvraj Punia (ELO 1264) in the second round of SBI Life FIDE Rating Chess Tournament, and played at the Russian Cultural Centre. Joshi launched an attack from the black side of Sicilian Kan Defence and completed the win in just 21 moves on the top board.
A similar trend was witnessed on board 2 where Amardeep Bartakke (ELO 2049) crushed Nimesh Kshirsagar (ELO 1264) in 19 moves from white side of Sicilian Defense.
Meanwhile, Santosh Khedekar (ELO 2015) used his experience to beat Vansh Aggarwal (ELO 1253) from the black side of Ruy Lopez opening.
All these players are on 2 points and sharing the lead with 15 other players in this 9-round tourney.
The only minor upset at the top tables was caused by Shrey Nilkant (ELO 1232), who held the seasoned campaigner Abhijit Joglekar (ELO 1664) to a draw after 46 moves.
