Fleetfooters keen to defend crown


Fleetfooters SC are determined to defend their crown as the Borivali Premier Football League (BPFL) – 2022, conducted under the aegis of MFA, is set to resume, after a gap of three years, at the St. Francis D’Assisi HS ground, Borivali on Sunday, July 3, 2022. The BPFL is being supported by MOC (Mumbai Oncology Centre) and PCPL (Pranav Constructions Private Limited).

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, this popular football league which is being organised by the ‘Games & Athletics Association, was not conducted from 2020.

A total of 14 teams will be competing for the top honours. The teams have been divided into two groups and they would initially play on a league basis. The top two teams from each group would qualify for the semi-finals and the winners will contest the final which is scheduled to be held in the second week of September.

Besides champs Fleetfooters SC and runners-up Milan Club the other teams who would be fighting to emerge champions include Maryland United SC, ND2 Soccerstarz, Shelar Football Club, Vibrants Football Club, Friends United, Vipul Gorai Football Club, Wellington Football Club, Nine Stars Football Club, Charkop Football Club, GM Sports Club, IC Sports Club, and Challengers Football Club.

The champions and runners-up teams will be presented with handsome trophies, Player of the Tournament award and individual prizes for the Best goalkeeper, defender, midfielder and forward. There would also be Man of the Match awards presented after every match.

 The groupings – Group-A: Fleetfooters SC, Maryland United SC, Vibrants Football Club, Wellington Football Club, Nine Stars Football Club, Charkop Football Club, and IC Sports Club.

Group-B: Milan Clubs, ND2 Soccerstarz, Shelar Football Club, Friends United, Vipul Gorai Football Club, GM Sports Club, and Challengers Football Club.
