FC Mumbaikars charge to big win


 

FC Mumbaikars showed good coordination and worked well as a unit to humble Bombay Gymkhana by an emphatic 7-0 margin in a Group-A league match of the Western India Football Association (WIFA) conducted Women’s Football Championship 2018, played at the Cooperage Football Stadium.

 

Leading FC Mumbaikars charge to the massive win was Sujata Kar and Sayantani S., both making useful contributions with double strikes, while Sakshi Nawale, Rimpa S. and Kajal Das all chipped in tithe a goal each to complete the winning margin.

 

FC Mumbaikar started in a positive attacking fashion and dominated play from the start. But, they had to wait till the 18th minute to open the floodgates with Sakshi Nawale finding the net before Sujata Kar scored two quick goals in the 21st and 28th minute to give Mumbaikars a commanding 3-0 lead.  Not prepared to relax the pace, Mumbaikars scored more goals before the break when Rimpa S. bugled the net in the 39th minute and on the stroke of half-time whistle Sayantani netted the first of her two goals to take her team into the interval with a solid 5-0 advantage.

 

In the second half, Mumbaikars struck two more times with Kajal Das hitting the target in the 62nd minute before Sayantani firing home the seventh goal in the 77th minute.

 

Results – Group-A: FC Mumbaikars 7 (Sakshi Nawale 18th, Sujata Kar 21st, 28th, Rimpa S. 39th, Sayantani 45th, 77th, Kajal Das 62nd) beat Bombay Gymkhana 0.
