FC Mumbaikar start on a winning note


 

FC Mumbaikar launched their campaign on a winning note as they registered an authoritative 2-0 win against United Pune Soccer Association in a Group-A league match of the Western India Football Association (WIFA) conducted Women’s Football Championship 2018, played at the Cooperage Football Stadium, on Sunday evening.

 

The Mumbai outfit who were better organized showed positive intent from the outset and dictated terms throughout and scored twice in the first session to take a strong hold of the match.

 

The visiting UPSA side tried their best to create chances and put pressure on the FC Mumbaikar defence, but lacked the punch to cause much damage to the Mumbai citadel.

 

FC Mumbaikar opened the scoring through Barnali Karar’s strike before Gita Das struck the second goal to secure their win.

 

PIFA, Bombay Gymkhana and Future Stars are the other three teams in Group-A.

 

Group B, comprises of Kenkre FC, FC Kolhapur City, Football Leaders Academy, Football School of India and Bodyline SC.
