Farooqui, Mangat and Patne score easy first round wins

Omar Farooqui of Aurangabad, Karan Mangat of Vashi and Sagar Patne of Thane, all had things under control and easily won their respective first round, best-of-7 frames, matches by convincing 4-0 margins in the Matunga Gymkhana 6-Red Open Snooker Tournament 2018, sponsored and hosted by Matunga Gymkhana, under the auspices of BSAM and played at the gymkhana’s billiards hall.

 

The Aurangabad cueist Omar Farooqui brushed aside the challenge from Suresh Sawant of Madpeshwar Civic Federation as he romped to a 49-24, 40-13, 45-10 and 37-34 victory to sail into the second round.

 

Mangat from Vashi was dominant from the start and completely outplayed his opponent Parth Chhadva of Jolly Gymkhana as he coasted to 47-11, 43-11, 29-19 and 38-7 win in quick time and join Farooqui in the next round.

 

Meanwhile, the Thane player Patne was also on a roll and faced little opposition from Mithun Merchant of CCI as he completed a comfortable win with the frame scores reading 30-22, 56-20, 45-12 and 33-3 in his favour and also progress to round two.

 

In a match which witnessed quite a close fight, Aditya Shandilya (CRMI) showed good fightimng spirit as he came back from 1-2 down to overcome Manjeet Singh Bhomer (NIA) 4-2 (54-42, 28-31, 20-34, 45-14, 41-1, 33-5).
